The second season of the hit HBO show True Detective is right around the corner but fans still have questions about what exactly the show will be about an hour will be running things behind the scenes.

More from HBO

When it comes to the director of the show only one name has so far been confirmed Fast and Furious director Justin Lin Will be directing the first two episodes of the show. Beyond that no one knows exactly who will be directing the other six episodes of the second season.

The list of names of directors who could be helping with the second season isn’t long but it still mysterious as to who HBO is coveting. With production set to begin soon another directors going to need to be chosen. We take a look at a couple of names who could very well find themselves behind the camera on the second season of true detective.

Andrew Dominik

One name has been mentioned so far is that of Australian director Andrew Dominik. She doesn’t have many films to his credit but everything he’s done has been fantastic in one way or another. His latest film, Killing Them Softly, was proof that he can be a multi-layered director handling a brilliant cast a smart script and injecting his own interesting direction.

That’s what true detective needs in its second season. The idea that many people have in their heads of what the second season will be is often times derivative of the first season. This simply can’t be in someone like Dominik is capable of taking the show into his own hands and crafting in his own image into something entirely original.

Mark Romanek

Romanek is another name who is been mentioned in the rumors as to who will help direct the second season. There’s no validity as to how serious he is about hopping on the second season, but there is hope that someone but his talent and skill can get behind the camera and assist with episodes.

Rather than get someone like him, why not just get Romanek himself? Like Andrew Dominic, Romanek is a director with not a lot of films to his credit but still has managed to put together an impressive filmography.
