True Detective Season 2: Could Nic Pizzolatto Direct Episodes?

The second season of the hit HBO series True Detective is right around the corner, and only one director has been found so far.

The first season of the hit HBO series True Detective was met with massive critical acclaim and even won director Cary Fukunaga an Emmy Award for his work. The second season is being highly anticipated but so far nothing has really happened with production. That could all change soon, but first the show needs to find another director.

So far, the only director hired has been Justin Lin but there will need to be more than one on the new season. After rumors that series creator Nic Pizzolatto wanted to take over the first season of the show from Fukunaga, there is a possibility that Pizzolatto could get behind the camera.

Pizzolatto told The Hollywood Reporter he has considered directing an episode of True Detective but doesn’t want to screw up his own show by so.

"He’ll be bringing in multiple directors to helm the show’s second season, a decision he says is about being able to move more quickly through production. Pizzolatto might try directing an episode, too. “It’s just the question of if I want to,” he says. “It’s certainly an ideal field to test oneself, yet at the same time I might not want to mess up my own show.”"

Seeing Pizzolatto being the camera would be interesting, especially considering it would be his directorial debut. While he comes across as a totalitarian, Pizzolatto is at least honest about his inability to direct an episode.

That right there shows you he has the best intentions in mind for the series.
