Rumor: True Detective Season Two Filming Postponed?

True Detective season two was finally seeming to come together, but it looks like everything may not be ready to go. After the first table read on Halloween, it appeared as if HBO was finally kicking True Detective production into high-gear. That may have been the thinking at the time, but a new rumor floating around states that production has been postponed. Breathe cast is reporting that film has been postponed due to the lack of a female lead. It looks like the lead problem may not have been solved just yet.

Even though HBO publicly offered the role to Rachel McAdams, she never publicly accepted. Although it was generally thought that she would take the role, there was never any official confirmation. Even though this rumor of postponement is just that, a rumor, it is a very plausible one. It’s possible that negotiations with McAdams or another actress fell through at the last-minute and now HBO is left in the lurch.

Hopefully this won’t change True Detective’s second season debut, which was actually beginning to look like it would make a January premiere. If this rumor turns out to be true, hopefully it can be hammered down sooner rather than later. If it’s a case of scheduling conflicts with a prospective actress (McAdams or otherwise) production may be holding out to accommodate that need.

We’ll let you know when shooting finally does begin.
