True Detective Season 2: HBO Confirms Eight Episodes Will Be Filmed

True Detective Season 2 has started production — officially — with HBO making it official that eight episodes will make up the second season of the series.
While it took long enough for HBO to make any sort of announcements in regards to True Detective Season 2, the network is rolling out official news on the series and what fans can expect. The cast of the series has been locked in and the series has an official episode order number that fans can finally sink their teeth into.

According to a press release from HBO, the network has ordered and will be producing eight episodes that will make up the second season of True Detective.
"The network also confirmed the 8-episode second season, in which Vaughn plays career criminal Frank Semyon and Farrell will play Det. Ray Velcoro, has started production in California."
This is great news that fans of the series have been waiting seemingly forever to hear, but today has brought a whirlwind of activity that has made their wait worth the while. We still have to wait until 2015 — and late 2015 at that — to actually see the episodes but word that production has finally started is news every fan is happy to hear.
