Variety Posts 2015 Golden Globes Predictions
In case you’ve been living under a rock, The 2015 Golden Globes will take place this weekend. This Sunday, to be exact. True Detective is nominated in several categories, with Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson duking it out for Best Actor.
Variety has written up their own predictions for the 2015 Golden Globes, and True Detective is seen as taking home two wins. Our own Gold Globes analysis has True Detective making out pretty well also, in case you were curious.

For Best Miniseries, Variety put its money on True Detective, pointing to its “…star marquee.” In this particular category, a win would mean beating out Fargo, a series that True Detective has a totally manufactured rivalry with.
For its second win, Variety thinks True Detective — specifically Matthew McConaughey — will take home Best Actor. We agree that McConaughey is the favorite in this category, and it would be something of a shock if he didn’t win.
Those two wins are certainly the most likely for True Detective, but it also means that Michelle Monaghan will be snubbed. That’s not surprising, as the clear favorite is Orange is the New Black’s Uzo Abuda, whom Variety has chosen.
The Golden Globes are just True Detective’s first shot at an award this season — the SAG’s and PGA awards will come later, and True Detective is nominated for both. However, The Golden Globes are True Detective’s best shot.
Being nominated in three different categories certainly doesn’t hurt.
