True Detective Wins Casting Award

The SAG awards are this weekend, but that doesn’t mean that True Detective can’t rake in more awards until then. You can consider this as part of True Detective’s comeback from the disaster that was the Golden Globes.

The CSA — Casting Society of America — have announced the winners of the Artios Awards for casting. The awards include film, television, and theater, making sure they include a wide swathe of casting choices. True Detective was fortunate enough to grab a win for Television Pilot Drama, bringing True Detective’s number of wins this season to one.

Which is better than it was before, so there’s that.

Fargo also took home an award under Television Movie or Miniseries, once again proving that nobody knows how to handle True Detective and Fargo. Other notable wins include Breaking Bad for Television Series Drama and Orange is the New Black for both Television Pilot Comedy and Television Series Comedy.

A CSA award is not one that is generally going to make headlines, but it’s a great win for True Detective nonetheless. True Detective’s casting continues to bring in accolades, regardless of the fact that it sometimes feels tailor-made to do just that.

The second season of True Detective is currently filming with a supposed premiere date in the summer and hopefully the casting will prove to be as inspired the second time around as it was the first. It’s easy to see a few big names and get excited, but the performances needs to be there to back it all up.
