True Detective Season Two: Why Haven’t We Seen Rachel McAdams on Set?

True Detective’s second season has been in production for several months at this point, but that doesn’t mean that we actually know anything. HBO has still not released the premiere date but at this point we’re betting on summer. Maybe we’ll even see a teaser soon, but it’s all up in the air at the moment.

Even though we haven’t gotten much in the way of official information for either the True Detective camp or HBO, we have had several leaks of actors on set. So far we’ve seen three of our four leads: Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, and Taylor Kitsch. The big name missing form that list is our female lead, Rachel McAdams.

McAdams is True Detective’s biggest wild card right now, even more so than the casting of Vince Vaughn. Rachel McAdams will be True Detective’s first ever female lead and there is a certain expectation out there to break away from any controversy.

She’s the only lead so far that we have not seen on set, though we did catch a glimpse of her at California’s LAX airport, supposedly arriving for filming.

Is it possible that security is tighter surrounding Rachel McAdams? It’s not impossible, but what would be the purpose? It’s more likely that she hasn’t done any filming with the other leads in an easily accessible part of the set. Or she could even be shooting in a separate location, which would possibly make it harder for us to catch a glimpse.

There has been a lot of mystery surrounding Rachel McAdam’s involvement with True Detective, and this only adds to it. She mysteriously shot to the top of the rumored actress list over the summer and was then thought to have delayed filming.

It should only be a matter of time before we see some McAdams on set but it is a little odd that it has already taken this long. When/if leaked photos of Rachel McAdams appear of her filming True Detective appear, we’ll make sure to get them to you.

Until then we just have to hold tight. Which, of course, is just par for the course.
