True Detective season two continues to chug along in production without a clear end in sight. Earlier this week we were treated to a filming location in California, but otherwise we haven’t had much to go on recently. Vince Vaughn has been the main source of information lately, but his interviews, though revealing about him personally, haven’t shed much light on True Detective.

Now Colin Farrell has given voice to some of his own True Detective thoughts. Farrell previously participated in an interview with LA Times in which his now infamous mustache was discussed, but there wasn’t much else True Detective related.

According to Independent, Colin Farrell originally feared that returning to television would spell an end to his career:

"“I haven’t done TV in years, and it’ll be the same thing as doing film. But the head plays tricks on you, and you think, ‘Am I giving up now?’ and that nonsense.”"

Colin Farrell got his start in television on a soap opera, a common route for would-be film stars to take. Colin Farrell has become a major star, but television lately has been attracting that caliber of actor. In fact, it’s one of the major cornerstones of True Detective in general.

It wasn’t too long ago that perhaps doing television for someone like Colin Farrell would have been seen as a step down, but that’s no longer the case. Regardless as how True Detective season two turns out, it’s very unlikely that it will be though of as career suicide.
