True Detective is Back on Twitter. But Will it be Worth your Time?
We’ve been following the non-exploits of True Detective’s social interaction for some time. They’ve been, with all fairness, fairly lackluster. Not too long ago an account pretending to be the official True Detective twitter was suspended, but there was no official replacement to take its place.

That has now changed. Coinciding with yesterday’s major True Detective season two announcements, it appears that True Detective has returned to the harsh world of social media. Some fans may have noticed this yesterday, when a simple “@TrueDetective” appeared at the end of season two’s teaser trailer.
As of now, the account has posted the date of the season two premiere and several pictures of the lead actors. It’s too early to tell whether this new media push will result in anything worthwhile, but we’re going to choose to stay cautiously optimistic.
And in case anyone would try to once again masquerade as the True Detective twitter, the new account has a fancy new check mark next to it denoting its verified status. We’ve been bemoaning True Detective’s complete lack of fan interaction during the months of season two’s production, but we’re ready to be pleasantly surprised if this turns out to be more than just an outlet for promotional material.
It’s also likely that we’ll see an uptick in creator Nic Pizzolatto’s tweets, who has been known to stay dead silent in-between seasons. Pizzicato is a private guy and that may be at least part of the reason that True Detective doesn’t mix with fans much.
With that said, that doesn’t mean that they don’t have their fun. A supposed promo piece for True Detective was sent to a comic artist a few months back, though there was never any confirmation that it was actually related to True Detective. With HBO and True Detective possibly starting to open up a bit, perhaps we’ll get an answer to that mystery before long.
