Google Earth Caught True Detective Filming Back in March
For a while we were seeing a steady stream of paparazzi shots from the set of True Detective’s second season. After HBO decided to taking True Detective front and center, those started to dry up. Even though we were shown a healthy douse of the actors filming True Detective, it was very rare for us to get a wide look at the crew or set.

Even though HBO and the various paparazzi didn’t come through on that one, Google surprisingly stepped up to the plate. A Reddit user supposedly uncovered the True Detective set on Google Earth.
The photo was snapped back in March and there’s not really much of anything going on, so don’t expect any spoilers.
It’s great when Google Earth can give us content like this. It’s just sheer luck, or a freak accident. It’s almost like the fates themselves defying HBO’s strict clampdown on anything True Detective related. It would have been nice to have seen updates from the set during filming, but it was never meant to be.
Although this shot doesn’t offer any real True Detective content, it is great to see something behind the scenes like this. It’s made all the better by the fact that was by total accident.
