HBO and True Detective Post Behind the Scenes Clip (Video)

Well, that was a bit of a surprise.

True Detective has posted a behind the scenes look at True Detective season two on YouTube, giving fans a short look at the set.  The clip is called “Invitation to the Set,” and is hopefully the first in a series. It’s the first meaningful thing that True Detective’s social team has done, to be frank.

It doesn’t focus on last night’s episode, but instead gives more of a look into True Detective season two overall. The clip features pieces of interviews with Colin Farrell, Vince Vaughn, Rachel McAdams, and Taylor Kitsch.

Unlike the similar videos that HBO does for Game of ThronesTrue Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto sits this one out. As does new director, Justin Lin.

Pizzolatto can be seen for a second talking with McAdams and later with Kitsch, but that’s about it. True Detective was very protective and secretive during production, so this is the first time that fans have been allowed to see the set.

Not counting all those leaks, of course.

Hopefully this will become something of a trend for True Detective, but it wouldn’t really be surprising if it didn’t. For all we know this could just serve as a “one and done” clip to further introduce is to True Detective’s new season.

The first episode of True Detective season two premiered last night, and we were there to document it. If you haven’t already, you can check out our review right here.
