Get Ready for Jim Carrey Ace Ventura: True Detective
Jim Carrey has a True Detective spoof, and it’s predictably great.
The above sentence isn’t exactly true. Yes, Jim Carrey is in a True Detective spoof, but not to his knowledge. It’s shocking that it took this long, but Jim Carrey’s Ace Ventura character has finally been given the True Detective makeover. Let’s just say this: it’s worthy. It’s so worthy, we’re not going to waste your time with more words. Just watch it:

In the clip, which you should have now seen, the worlds of True Detective and Ace Ventura collide. Specifically the world of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, but the specifics aren’t all that important. Jordan Horsch saw a world in which there was no Ace Ventura True Detective spoof and decided to fix that. We are all better for his efforts.

Of course, this isn’t the first time that Jim Carrey has been associated with True Detective. The first time, admittedly, was only tangentially as Carrey played Matthew McConaughey in the Lincoln commercials. McConaughey is doing a version of True Detective’s Rust Cohle, so it all comes full circle.
Carrey played McConaughey on Saturday Night Live twice, though unfortunately he never participated in an actual True Detective skit. A missed opportunity, that. When McConaughey himself hosted Saturday Night Love there was also no True Detective skit. It feels good to, in a way, to have a past wrong made right.

Fans of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective will get the most kick out of the clip, but most people are probably capable of appreciating Jim Carrey making ridiculous faces.
