True Detective Spoof Angie Tribeca to Air this Sunday
TBS’ Police Procedural spoof, Angie Tribeca, to air in marathon this weekend.
True Detective season three may not be premiering for a while, but its spirit will live on in TBS’ new comedy. Angie Tribeca, a spoof series that we’ve mentioned before, will premiere this weekend. Specifically, this Sunday in a ridiculous 25 hour marathon. It seems that TBS really want you to watch this one.

Angie Tribeca is produced by Steve Carrell and his wife, Nancy Ellen Carrell. So there is some pedigree here. The series will star Rashida Jones, who had major roles on both Parks and Recreation and The Office. In case you haven’t seen either of those shows, Parks and Recreation is the better one — not that we’re here to discuss that.

Angie Tribeca isn’t a straight-up spoof of True Detective, but is instead taking on police shows in general. It feels as if there are more cop shows currently on television than there have ever been before, so it feels good that there is a show willing to poke fun at that little fact. This 25 hour marathon is long enough to become well-acquainted with Angie Tribeca and then perhaps become sick of it. All within the same marathon.
This new show is as close as we’re going to get to True Detective for a long time, especially if Lombardo’s comments are anything to go on. Might as well enjoy it, right? Angie Tribeca looks promising so far, but we’ll have to see how it look after watching it 25 hours straight.
Next: True Detective wouldn't have won a Golden Globe anyway.
Not really.
