Reminder: The 2016 SAG Awards are Tonight
Enjoy the SAG Awards tonight but don’t expect to see True Detective there.
The second major award ceremony of the season, the 2016 SAG Awards, are tonight. True Detective was nominated for two awards at last year’s ceremony: one for Matthew McConaughey, and another for Woody Harrelson. Neither won, and it became even more evident that True Detective was in a losing pattern when it came to the major awards.
The only major difference this time around is that instead of being constantly nominated and losing, True Detective season two wasn’t nominated at all. It was nominated for a PGA Award and a Critic’s Choice Award but lost both.

Nothing shocking about that. True Detective will not be at the SAG’s tonight, but that doesn’t exactly mean its presence won’t be felt.
Rachel McAdams will be a presenter tonight, and even though it’s due to her role in Spotlight, she is also technically there representing True Detective. Don’t expect anyone to mention that little fact, however. Even though season two has been getting a break as of late, none of the actors involved are particularly keen on reminding the public that they were ever in it.
The Emmy’s, now famously, ripped into True Detective season two with relish. The Golden Globes didn’t offer any jabs at the series, but that’s not exactly Ricky Gervais’ style. Since the SAG’s won’t have a host, it would be up to the individual presenters to throw their own shade at True Detective. It likely won’t come to pass.
Next: House of Cards renewed before its fourth season. True Detective still MIA.
We’ll be watching and enjoy the SAG’s tonight regardless of True Detective’s absence. If you’ll be doing the same, don’t be shy; chat with us on Twitter.
