True Detective Season Two Gets Real Retro (Video)
The True Detective fandom strikes again in this 70’s retro reimagining of season two.
Regardless of what the general public thought of True Detective season two, the fandom has been having great deal of fun with it. Granted, there haven’t been anywhere as many spoofs and tributes for season two as there were (and continue to be) for season one, but the current tally is still impressive.
Enter the newest addition to the True Detective season two fan creation canon, the 70’s throwback version. YouTube user williamssdd4 did an admirable job of creating this new retro intro. We’ve previously seen True Detective in the style of an 80’s show, but this is a tad different. The only thing this one can truly said to be missing is a film grain to make it look especially dated. Take a look:

Love that neon green font. The clip doesn’t just remix the original intro, but instead of creates an entirely new one from various season two scenes. It’s dark, threatening, and action-packed. It’s a fine example of what True Detective season two might have actually looked like in the 70’s.
Fans have continued to play around with season two even though popular culture didn’t take to it like they did season one. To be fair, it was always going to be highly unlikely that season two would be embraced the same way, even if it performed anywhere near season one.

There’s no reason to think that True Detective season two won’t ignite fan’s creative tendencies the same way, and that’s just one more reason to be excited for what comes next.
