The first movie based on Stephen King’s beloved novel series The Dark Tower is coming to theaters this summer.

However, King also has another book series that isn’t as well-known but has garnered him three straight bestsellers since 2014. Those are the Bill Hodges trilogy and they are coming to AT&T television for an exclusive TV series starting this summer called Mr. Mercedes.

AT&T released the brand-new trailer for the upcoming Mr. Mercedes television series, which you can see below.

Mr. Mercedes was the name of the first novel in the series about a former police detective named Bill Hodges. In the first novel, a serial killer known as Mr. Mercedes murdered eight people by driving his car into a crowd and is now tormenting the former police detective.

The novel focuses on the killer toying with Hodges as more bodies start to pile up. Unlike much of King’s work, Mr. Mercedes was more of a pulp noir novel than a horror story.

After that, Stephen King followed up with two more novels in Finders Keepers and End of Watch, where the supernatural aspects of King’s storytelling start to become more evident in Hodges’ life.

On Aug. 9, AT&T presents the television adaptation of Mr. Mercedes. The series will appear on DirecTV channel 239, AT&T U-verse channel 1114, and on DirecTV Now as a streaming option. David E. Kelly (The Practice, Boston Legal) is producing the show and it stars Brendan Gleeson (Braveheart) as Bill Hodges and Harry Treadaway (Penny Dreadful) as the killer Brady Hartsfield.

Here is the official Mr. Mercedes synopsis from AT&T.

"A demented serial killer taunts a retired police detective with a series of lurid letters and emails, forcing the ex-cop to undertake a private, and potentially felonious, crusade to bring the killer to justice before he can strike again. Based on the bestselling novel by Stephen King. Directed by Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones) and adapted for television by David E. Kelley. All three serve as Executive Producers."
