For those who aren’t part of the hype surrounding this show, here is a little insight into what you’re missing out on! The Alienist is a crime thriller based on Caleb Carr’s 1994 best-seller novel–set in New York City circa 1896.
The series opens with news of a string of heinous murders involving boy prostitutes. It follows the trio of Fanning, Evans, and Bruhl as they work together to solve the mystery behind these serial killings. Bruhl defines the core of the series playing a psychologist (a.k.a an alienist), who investigates individuals “alienated” from themselves. Intriguing, right?
Digital viewership/social media presence were also amongst the record-breaking accomplishments for this haunting series. A total of 4 million minutes were watched on TNT’s apps and website along with active social media presence. Talk about social frenzy, right?
