American Horror Story casting news!

Ryan Murphy has confirmed, Kathy’s back! Along with American Horror Story veterans, Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson.
In an interview with EW, Murphy revealed that Kathy Bates will return for another fright-filled season!
Bates joined the cast back in season 3, as the sadistic Madame Delphine LaLaurie, in American Horror Story: Coven. She returned as Ethel Darling in Freak Show, as Iris in Hotel and as The Butcher/Agnes Mary Winstead in Roanoke, but took a break for season 7.
The break presumably due to scheduling conflicts with her now-canceled show Disjointed on Netflix.
The lack-luster Roanoke and last season’s Cult, which seemed like a mashup of reality and The Purge, fell short of viewers expectations. We all hope season eight’s script will live up to these actors talents.

Season seven’s downfall was mostly due to the writers failing to see that audiences are looking to their show as an escape from the world and politics, not a rehashing of it. After living with constant inundation of the American political climate on every media platform and social network, which seems like an American horror story in itself to many, most didn’t want to sit down and relive these particular fears in a fictional format.
Murphy has revealed that next season will be set in the future. Here’s to hoping that this future will breath new life into the series. I know a lot of people will be disappointed if the next season is a near future continuation of the last, set in a post-political dystopia. No other hints have been dropped, so here’s to hoping it will be a completely different take, though we know there is a crossover through all the seasons.

Along with the return of Kathy Bates, Peters and Paulson, I personally would love to see Angela Bassett come back, as well as Lily Rabe. Some new stars could also give the series a well-needed boost. I look forward to seeing who will be next on the casting list.
