The controversial teen drama will be back for 13 more episodes in 2019.

Netflix renewed the controversial series, 13 Reasons Why, for the third season of 13 episodes.

New broke when Netflix released a trailer in which someone opens a locker, grabs his or her lunch out of the locker, and as the locker slams shut, a black three appears on the door.

Here’s what we know so far.

The hit teen drama won’t return until 2019 sometime, but Netflix didn’t specify any particular month.

Katherine Langford will most likely not appear in Season 3. Her character, Hannah Baker, died by suicide in Season 1.

Then, she appeared as Clay’s hallucination and in flashbacks during Season 2. But at the end of the season, Hannah seemed to officially cross over after her memorial service – which leads us to believe her story is over.

We also know Brian Yorkey will return as showrunner, as well as executive producers Joy Gorman, Mandy Teefey, Kristel Laiblin, Tom McCarthy, Selena Gomez, and Steve Golin. So, we can expect to see the same high-quality content we saw during the first two seasons.

Despite some panning by critics, Season 2 still pulled in significant numbers.

According to Deadline, 13 Reasons Why had six million viewers in just the first three days of release. The second season premiered on May 18.

As to what fans can expect from next season, Yorkey gave his insight at the Netflix FYC panel last Friday. He said,

"“What happened to Hannah will always be the first clause of the story. The rest of the story is about young people, as so many young people, maybe all young people today (learn) how to heal from the things that have hurt them…to make the world that they want it to be, not just the world they are inheriting…and above all, how to take care of each other.”"

Season 2 ended with Clay Jensen, played by Dylan Minnette, stopping Tyler Down (Devin Druid) from shooting up the school at a dance.
