Mr. Mercedes, the underrated Stephen King adaptation that airs on AT&T’s Audience Network, is coming to the San Diego Comic-Con in 2018.

Deadline reports that there will be a panel discussion with the cast and crew of Mr. Mercedes at Comic-Con, which runs from July 19-21 in San Diego.

Not only will the panel be there for Stephen King fans, but there will also be an event called “Mr. Mercedes Immersive Experience” that will include a virtual reality escape room inside Brady’s lair, as well as an augmented reality game where players will help Hodges crack the case.

Mr. Mercedes premiered last year on the AT&T exclusive Audience Network and ended up as one of the better Stephen King television adaptations in recent memory. The story itself was based on the book of the same name — the first in the Bill Hodges trilogy.

In that book (and TV season), Hodges (Brendan Gleeson) is a retired police officer who had one case that went unsolved — someone drove a car into a group of people camping out outside of a job fair, killing many of them, and escaping.

That killer, Brady Hartsfield (Harry Treadaway), starts to hack into Hodges computer and torments the retired police officer and then people start to die again. Hodges has to stop Brady before it is too late.

The season ended with Hodges winning, but Brady ending up in a coma. So, where will Mr. Mercedes season 2 lead? Check out this video promoting the start of shooting.

As mentioned, Mr. Mercedes was the first of a trilogy about Bill Hodges. The second book, Finders Keepers, had Hodges starting a private investigation firm and dealing with a case involving someone involved with the original Mr. Mercedes murders.

The third book, End of Watch, takes on a more supernatural aspect as Hodges learns he is dying and has to solve a series of suicides that might link back to Brady — who is still in a coma.
