Iron Fist season 2 gets a premiere date on Netflix
Iron Fist fans won’t have to wait very long to see the new season.
At San Diego Comic Con today, Netflix officially announced Iron Fist would be returning on September 7. It was originally expected that The Punisher would get its second season first but Marvel surprised fans with the realization that Danny Rand would be back on television sometime in 2018.

The first season of Iron Fist was met with resounding critical disdain and a divisive fan reaction. Danny Rand didn’t exactly gain any new fans during his stint in the Defenders either. However, this all changed when Danny made an appearance in the second season of Luke Cage. It seems like Marvel has finally figured out how to effectively use the character.
There’s already a lot to look forward to in the Netflix/Marvel series. In an earlier teaser, the series hinted at an appearance of Danny Rand’s arch nemesis, the Steel Serpent. The series set up this villain in season one, and it looks like that groundwork will finally pay off. However, it’s unclear whether Madame Gao survived the Defenders to team-up with Davos to take on Danny this season.
Of course, the other thing to get excited about is a possible encore for Daughters of the Dragon. At SDCC today, Simone Missick stopped by the Iron Fist booth to sign autographs alongside the other cast members. While she played off the visit as simply “Misty just kinda came to hang out”, it certainly had fans speculating about a possible Iron Fist cameo. It only seems fair considering Jessica Henwick got to stop by Luke Cage for an epic bar fight.

Fans who attended SDCC got to see a lot of footage early, but everyone else will have to settle for a premiere date. Marvel will probably release a teaser sometime soon considering season two drops in less than two months. In the meantime, be sure to check back here for all Iron Fist news!
