American Horror Story: Apocalypse just dropped the latest trailer–and it is all kinds of freaky.

American Horror Story season 8 will premiere next month and it is gearing up to be one of the most highly anticipated seasons of the series yet.

Not only is there a crossover between Murder House and Coven but it was announced over the weekend that alum Jessica Lange would be returning to reprise her role as Constance.

More from American Horror Story

In the spirit of news, FX dropped a new teaser for the upcoming eighth season and let us tell you it is weird. But we’ve come to expect that when it comes to American Horror Story.

The teaser alludes to some frightening apocalyptic-esque destruction and maybe even…the Anti-Christ?

The trailer is titled “Hourglass” and begins with the image of a fetus whose umbilical cord is attached to a dark, black beating heart. This imagery is followed by a nuclear explosion and transitions to two people sleeping, one of whom is wearing a gas mask.

The trailer goes on to show us a skill, scorpions, a pentagram (Coven shoutout, presumably), birds, and then back to the hourglass again.

A creepy hand emerges that turns the hourglass upside down as skulls fall through instead of sand. Yeah, this season already seems pretty intense, and this was just a teaser. *Gulp*

At the TCA panel last week, AHS: Apocalypse executive producer Alexis Martin Woodall said that the story for season 8 “begins with the end of the world and then our world begins”.  Interesting, very interesting.

Along with Lange, the cast for season 8 includes Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Adina Porter, Emma Roberts, Cheyenne Jackson, Billy Eichner, Leslie Grossman and Billie Lourd.

Joan Collins is also joining the cast and will play the role of Peters’ character’s grandmother.
