Where is Angela Bassett on this season of American Horror Story?

Angela Bassett addresses her absence on this season of American Horror Story as Marie Laveau.
American Horror Story is deep into its eighth season with the highly-anticipated crossover. And now that the Coven witches are officially back, things are about to get really good. But while most of them are present there is one particular character that hasn’t shown up–Marie Laveau.
The character of Marie is played by the fabulous Angela Bassett who is one of Ryan Murphy’s chosen ones considering she has been in multiple seasons of American Horror Story and is currently on his Fox series, 9-1-1.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Bassett is wondering where Marie Laveau is and how she is “in her feelings about it”. While Marie died at the end of season 3, it doesn’t mean much in the world of American Horror Story where characters can come back under the most unusual of circumstances.

But given that Bassett has been busy with 9-1-1, it’s not likely that Marie will make a return, at least not yet. She also spoke about Connie Britton possibly returning to 9-1-1 following her exit after the season 1 finale, claiming “it’s absolutely possible” that she could come back because she is always welcome.
And while Bassett is not set to be in this season of American Horror Story as far as we know, Britton will be appearing in a later episode this season reprising her role from the Murder House season–and we can’t wait!
When discussing the Black Panther sequel, Bassett did not have any updates but loves the idea of a Shuri spin-off, a character fans immediately fell in love with. Here’s to hoping we get some more Black Panther action soon.

This season of American Horror Story is far from over so is it too optimistic for us to cling onto the hope that Bassett may yet make a surprise appearance? Absolutely not. We’ve got our fingers crossed.
