The Edge of Seventeen gets comedy pilot order from YouTube

If you were a fan of the 2016 film, The Edge of Seventeen, then this new comedy pilot may right up your alley!
The Edge of Seventeen was one of 2016’s critically acclaimed movies starring Hailee Steinfeld, and now it’s heading to the small screen thanks to YouTube. A pilot order has just been given by YouTube, according to Deadline, for this comedy pilot by STXtv.
Transparent’s Annabel Oakes will be writing and directing The Edge of Seventeen pilot and executive producing the pilot will be the original film’s writer/director Kelly Fremon Craig. Production on the pilot is set to begin in January 2019.
This film to TV adaptation will be a coming of age series which will mimic the sentiment of the film and explore the usual teenage angsty drama of a high school student and her friend. Together, they will endure relationships and the complicated, confusing life of being teenage girls.

The Edge of Seventeen pilot will not be a sequel or remake of the film but rather new stories will be told with the same vibe and feeling. Craig is looking forward to bringing Oakes onto the pilot and shared her thoughts on Oakes joining the project:

For all of the reasons she makes an exceptional writer, she will make an exceptional director. I couldn’t be more thrilled to support her talent and help her bring this to life.”"
