Krypton: The Complete First Season coming to Blu-ray in March 2019

Krypton aired its first season on the SyFy Network earlier in 2018 and a second season will arrive in 2019.

For fans who missed it, the show is a prequel to the story of Superman — but it isn’t about Superman or even his father Jor-El.

This TV series is about Superman’s grandfather Seg-El, a young man who is tasked with saving his home planet of Krypton even though the ruling council stands in his way, unknowing of the danger at hand.

There are also some familiar names in the series, despite it taking place 100 years in the past.

The main villain, outside of the narrowminded government, is Brainiac — someone who wants to stop the birth of Superman by traveling back in time to destroy the planet.

Also on hand is time-traveling superhero Adam Strange, who is almost as much a hindrance as a help to the young hero Seg-El. Finally, there are also familiar names as the ancestors of General Zod are on hand as well.

What started out as a questionable prequel TV show ended up as one of the most entertaining comic book shows on television.

Season 2 will feature the arrival of another major villain in Doomsday, who of course was the creature that killed Superman back in the ’90s comic book series. As comic fans know, he was created on Krypton as an unstoppable weapon long before he showed up in Metropolis.

With that said, before season 2 arrives, fans can finally get their hands on the Blu-ray of Krypton: The Complete First Season. While it was a long wait, the Blu-ray goes on sale on March 5, 2019.

According to a press release for the Blu-ray edition, it will include all 10 episodes plus a number of special features. These include:

  • Krypton: 2017 Comic-Con Panel
  • Krypton: Bringing the Home World to Life
  • A Lost Kingdom: Life on Krypton
  • Gag reel
  • Deleted Scenes
