ABC has officially renewed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for season 7!

Marvel fans are getting at least two more seasons of ABC’s critically underrated Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to look forward to. Deadline is reporting the series has been renewed ahead of its season 6 premiere. The show has consistently been considered “on-the-bubble” throughout recent years and fans are bound to be excited about this early renewal.

After the season 6 announcement in May, former ABC Entertainment President, Channing Dungey reassured fans the summer timeslot did not mean the end of the Marvel show.

"“I feel the season we just had was creatively the strongest yet. We don’t plan it as a final season. The show has a loyal passionate base. It does incredibly well in delayed viewing.”"

The live numbers for Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. have never fantastic, however, the delayed viewing and DVR ratings have been impressive. As the way, people watch television evolves, it’s harder to judge show’s based solely on live numbers. Screen Rant reported Parrot Analytics, a company focused on finding how in demand television series are, had made a report on Marvel. They revealed S.H.I.E.L.D. is the most popular out of all of the Marvel series. This came as a bit of a shock considering many assumed Daredevil or Jessica Jones would beat it.

More from ABC

On top of being Marvel’s strongest series, Parrot Analytics also reported it is in the top 0.03% of shows around the world regarding how in demand they are. It seems like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has always had to fight for a renewal in the past but this data suggests ABC should be fighting to keep this show on their network.

Over the past few seasons, S.H.I.E.L.D. has become one of the most innovate and creative shows in the genre. Fans of superhero shows have had a wide selection to choose from throughout the past few years. However, the creative team has been able to blend impressive action sequences, intelligent use of CGI, and inventive storylines which have sent the show into space and an alternate reality within the Framework.

Not to mention, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has one of the best ensembles on television. Chloe Bennett, Ming-Na Wen, Iain De Caestecker, Elizabeth Henstridge, Henry Simmons, Natalia Cordova-Buckley, and Jeff Ward have all been confirmed to return. Sadly, no word on whether Clark Gregg will be reprising his character of Phil Coulson. Considering season 5 ended with his retirement, Marvel might purposefully be leaving his name out just to keep fans guessing.
