Santa Clarita Diet season 3, episode 4 recap: More of a Cat Person

Are Sheila and Joel’s days together coming to an end on Santa Clarita Diet?

Santa Clarita Diet has been pushing really hard for Joel to embrace the idea of being undead. Sheila knows that sooner rather than later, old age will catch up to Joel and she wants them to spend the rest of their lives together–forever.

Let’s just say Joel has seen more than enough of the undead life to know that it’s not exactly that great. He’d have to eat people and would enjoy it immensely. It’s just not the type of decision he’s ready for.

Shifting their focus to an open house, Sheila ends up meeting a woman that heard about her through Anne. Reluctant to hear what she has to say at first, Sheila soon learns that this woman’s ex-husband is the perfect horrible person for her to feast on next. Everything about him says he’s a sleazy, intolerable person, so why not eat him?

Meanwhile, Abby and Eric are feeling the pressure of the fracking investigation after learning that they found a footprint. To try and trick the FBI agent, Abby goes out and buys them shoes larger than their size, but it turns out it’s not a literal footprint that was found, but a chemical one. It’s one that leads the FBI to the C4 that Eric found in Dan’s closet, so it’s not exactly looking good for our Santa Clarita Diet pseudo-couple.

Sheila and Joel devise a plan to lure the woman’s ex-husband to a fake meeting so Sheila can go to town for her next meal. After meeting the guy, it’s no surprise that it doesn’t take Sheila long to eat him from limb to limb and feel great about it. She feels like she’s done a good deed by ridding the world of him, and is feeling pretty darn great.

A lot of this season of Santa Clarita Diet has been focusing on Sheila’s hopes that Joel will let her bite him and become undead. It’s not an easy decision to make, however, Joel has been trying to toy with the idea. So much so, that after seeing how Ramona’s Mr. Ball Legs loves her so much, he decides to thaw out Sheila’s and present it to her as a gift. It’s a weird gift, but then again this is a weird story, so we’ll go with it.

But there isn’t much time to bask in Joel’s romantic gesture because as we learn at the end of the episode, Tommy knows who Sheila and Joel really are, and he’s not happy. Not happy at all.
