Santa Clarita Diet just got a bit more complicated after Ron takes matters into his own hands.

Santa Clarita Diet may have gone differently in its third season if it was known that it would be its final one. I have a feeling many storylines may have gone differently, and certain ones wouldn’t have been explored at all. Case in point: Abby and Eric’s relationship. At this point in the season, it’s been very, very slow to build and I think that’s because the writers assumed they would have time to let it grow.

I believe this is why there has been so much emphasis on this whole fracking storyline, which I’m completely and totally over. When this episode begins, Abby and Sheila have a heart-to-heart talk about Eric and Abby. She’s not sure she loves Eric on a deeper level just yet but finds herself confused after running into Ramona who was convinced Abby is in love with Eric. Oh, high school love.

In an effort to do some good in the world and not just eat people, Sheila decides to take up volunteering and offer her help to Meals on Wheels. She ends up at an elderly woman named Jean’s house who is quick with her words. She knows Sheila is just doing this to make herself feel better, but then again, aren’t a lot of people?

Back at the Hammond house, the epicenter of Santa Clarita Diet season 3 is continuing to progress as Ron decides to come over and talk to Sheila and Joel about becoming undead. He wants to be bitten by Sheila, who shuts it down immediately. He’s not exactly the type of person that should be undead anyway.

The FBI investigation into the fracking incident is still in full swing, and it seems they may be getting closer and closer to figuring out who did it. It doesn’t help that they can do by using the C4 residue to track down a chemical footprint, so to speak. Unfortunately, there’s a crap ton of C4 back at Eric’s house, and he and Abby need to get it out STAT.

They can’t seem to find the key, however, and soon learn that Eric’s mother, Lisa, has taken care of it already. Of course, they don’t find this out until Lisa opens up the closet door for the FBI agent. There’s nothing but clothes inside, and it seems once Lisa figured out what Abby and Eric did, she handled the situation on her own.

Sheila and Joel have an unfortunate Tommy situation who has figured out that they are the real estate couple he’s been looking for. He knows Sheila is undead and is eager to kill her, that is until his daughter walks in. Who knew Tommy was such a family man? But it’s because of this that Sheila can convince Tommy not to kill her. She reassures him that when she does eat people, it’s only bad people and she just wants to keep her family safe.

With that crisis averted, Santa Clarita Diet presents another one for the Hammond couple—Ron broke into the house, found Gary’s head, managed to forcefully get bitten by him, and now…he’s undead. And he’s not being shy about it in the slightest.
