Santa Clarita Diet is nearing the end of its third and final season, and it feels like things are just getting started.

Santa Clarita Diet must have had no inclination that this would be their final season considering where the story is at this point in the season. It feels like while things are wrapping up, there are new stories popping up with a lot of potential. In this episode, Sheila and Joel prepare for the Knights of Serbia interview which means making sure Ron doesn’t get out or get in the way of anything.

Unfortunately, Mr. Ball Legs is roaming around the house unbeknownst to Sheila and Joel. Side note: That thing is freaky AF. I’m sure it has like a million eyes and gives me the heebie-jeebies. Anyway, the Grand Prior of the Knights of Serbia shows up, and the Hammonds are surprised to learn that it is a middle-aged woman named Petra. Girl power!

As she introduces them to what this knighthood would entail, she pulls out a bunch of torture weapons. I love how nonchalantly she shows off things that are meant to squish people’s heads and kill them on the spot. And while she’s doing her thing, Mr. Ball Legs is on the wall behind her. While Joel distracts her, Sheila takes care of the creepy little thing.

After Winter found the detonator, Eric is concerned about whether or not she’ll tell the authorities. Luckily for him, Abby has a conversation with her and learns that not only will she keep the secret, but she’s in support of what they did.

Back at the Hammonds’, Petra reveals that she has a mission for Joel. She wants him to find Ron, someone she’s read all about on Reddit and someone she knows as the guy who wants to turn everyone. The thing is, Petra, Joel already has Ron, or so he thought. While Joel and Sheila were upstairs, Ron manages to escape by chewing through the wood he’s cuffed to. Looks like Joel’s mission just became real.

As the season 3 penultimate episode of Santa Clarita Diet comes to a close, we learn that Ron has been kidnapped by Poplovic’s guys. But plot twist! Ron ends up turning both of them. And you can pretty much guess what happens from there–a rampage of eating people (literally everywhere). This won’t end well.

But, hey, at least, Joel is officially pledging to be a Knight of Serbia!
