Light as a Feather season 2, episode 6 recap: …Troubled as the Tide

facebooktwitterreddit

In episode 206 of Hulu’s Light as a Feather, Sammi almost gets frozen, a mysterious trunk is unlocked, and we learn that Mack snores.

Previously on Light as a Feather, McKenna “Mack” Brady (Liana Liberato) was trying to track her behavior during her blackouts, as a curse seems to increasingly control her actions.  Now her on-again/off-again boyfriend, Trey (Jordan Rodrigues), is keeping watch over her. Trey’s most recent love interest and bandmate, Sammi (Katelyn Nacon), is afraid of dying by freezing to death — as predicted by McKenna during their game of Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board. In other words, it’s complicated.

On the cuter side of the story, Trey maintains that Mack snores. Even though he may be moving on to Sammi, he at least understands she’s under a curse which is affecting her behavior. Also, speaking of strange behavior, Isaac (Brent Rivera) has been obsessively drawing people unknown to him, including Marc Regan (Alex Lange).

More from Show Snob

Much as predicted in the game Light as a Feather, Sammi almost gets stuck in a walk-in freezer, though is narrowly saved. The big question: Why does she go into the freezer despite that prediction? It seems she was tempted by fate.  Also, how come she eludes the freaky prediction while others don’t?  It either means she’s unique or she will get “iced” later on.  She later meets with Trey to talk music, joking about having a 45-minute guitar solo and maybe adding bagpipes (though it’s a joke, it worked for that one AC/DC song, right?). Sammi later confronts Trey about Mack’s blackouts, not liking how he’s hiding details from her.

Meanwhile, Mack learns from Violet (Haley Ramm) about Isaac’s drawings of people who played the cursed game. Might he be part of a possible solution? In fact, Violet’s even invited over to stay the night, although Alex (Brianne Tju) likens it to a slumber party with a serial killer. Violet also finds her missing key in McKenna’s things, then heads off to Isaac. In conversation, she has an opportunity to tell Isaac about the Light as a Feather/Chrysalis curse, but she ultimately chickens out. She does learn that Isaac played the game when Mack hosted it and that he is to be stung to death by wasps.  Ouch!  Better stay away from eaves, sheds, and garages, good sir.

More blackouts

The sleepover doesn’t go as planned. Mack wakes up in the basement of Violet’s old house, and Alex and Trey show up. By the time Violet arrives, Mack apparently can’t resist the temptation to open a trunk on the floor. Violet tries to prevent it, but Mack reveals a strange corpse inside of it! This does not bode well for Violet’s reputation, which has been tarnished by plenty of things already. Still, what does the corpse mean? How did it get there, and what is Violet really about? Things have been complicated, to be sure, but there’s no way weaseling out of an explanation for Violet now!
