In episode 5 of Netflix series Ultraman, our hero just can’t get a break! Now there’s a new alien serial killer on the loose.

In “City of Aliens,” a new alien is on the loose — a weird, four-eyed creature (voiced by Michael Yurchak) that has killed a man named Takeo Ichikawa. Inspector Endo (Chris Edgerly) and fellow officer Kurata (Lucien Dodge) find the victim as nothing but a bloody mess. Interestingly, the scene is somehow linked to a Rena Sayama (Tara Jayne Sands) blog (pop star Sayama keeps popping up in the storyline). Before they can make much headway, Inspector Endo is sidelined by the SSSP (Science Special Search-Party), who takes over the investigation. We also learn that Endo doesn’t particularly like Ultraman (Josh Hutcherson) — who we also know as Shinjiro.

Speaking of which, Shinjiro and Moroboshi (Liam O’Brien) are off to investigate the murder independently, but Moroboshi keeps expressing distaste for Shinjiro’s inexperience and gentle nature. He reminds him that his to eliminate threatening aliens (at times Moroboshi seems to not distinguish good ones from bad ones). They enter an alien town, heading straight for a gambling hall. There they meet a human named Jack (Robbie Daymond) who beats an alien considerably bigger than himself.

Basically, Jack is tasked with babysitting Shinjiro, who seems oddly not offended by the gesture. Soon, however, the alien Jack fought returns, threatening Shinjiro.  It even says that Shinjiro smells like Ultraman! He grabs Shinjiro by the throat and lifts him in air. However, he relents when Moroboshi tells the alien to leave (obviously, the SSSP have status around this neighborhood).

As they look into the murders, we see the murderous alien watch an interview of Rena Sayama, who is an Ultraman super fan. Meanwhile, Officer Endo and Kurata haven’t halted their own investigation. In fact, they end up chasing the four-eyed freaky alien. It gets away, however, which leaves them disappointed. However, they now know why the science SSSP is involved, and have a solid idea of what their suspect looks like.

In addition to this murderous, we also see that the treacherous Bemular (Matthew Mercer) was watching the chase from above. As we’ve seen before, Bemular is a force to be reckoned with. Ultraman had to ward him off with everything in his arsenal. So what’s he up to now? Most likely nothing good.  We can be sure he wants a piece of the human-killing action, right?
