Light as a Feather season 2, episode 7 recap: …Guilty as Sin
By Wade Wainio
In episode 207 of Hulu’s Light as a Feather, a car accident reveals that the curse hasn’t been lifted. Also, Mack’s blackouts get more complex.
Previously on Light as a Feather, Sammi (Katelyn Nacon) almost got frozen, a mysterious trunk was unlocked to reveal a hideous corpse, and the tension between Alex (Brianne Tju) and Violet (Haley Ramm) fluctuated wildly. This episode picks up with the corpse in Violet’s basement, which is no less dead than before. It’s learned that McKenna “Mack” Brady (Liana Liberato) brought the Chrysalis curse to others, through another rousing game of Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board. It was predicted that Isaac Salcedo (Brent Rivera) will be stung by wasps — not just 1 or 2 errant ones, but a whole hive!
Violet mentions how, after Marc died, she was sent to the Daybridge mental health facility (where Candace died in season 1). This is apparently where she got the Chrysalis curse, as it’s where she first played the deathly game. She reveals that someone touched the chrysalis on her back and died. She admits that she hid his body, but he was actually alive and died of starvation! While Violet seemed to redeem herself here and there in previous season 2 episodes, this bit of news makes her far less sympathetic than before.

The Light as a Feather game doesn’t simply carry a death curse. For some reason, it seems to cause psychic powers as well. For example, somehow Isaac’s drawing a bunch of real people he hasn’t met, including someone named Margaret Abbott. There are other mysterious happenings as well, such as the disappearance of Henry (Dylan Sprayberry) and Lena (Harley Graham). Just as mysterious are Violet’s intentions. She mentions that she intentionally gave Isaac his coma! Then, when the others suggest they might tell Isaac, Violet threatens to tell them about the strange death of Nadia (Kira Kosarin).
Blackouts and secrets
There’s also speculation about Mack’s blackouts. HSheand Sammi put their differences aside and head to see Sammi’s hypnotherapist aunt, Sky (Julie Benz). It doesn’t seem to accomplish much of anything good, unfortunately. Meanwhile, as Trey (Jordan Rodrigues) heads out to find Lena’s mom (Timi Prulhiere), we see that Isaac somehow acquired the recording of Violet confessing to causing his coma. Understandably, he tells her to leave. Although Trey learns nothing about Lena, he is later confronted by Peri (Adriyan Rae) about Alex’s secrecy. He tells Peri about the curse (though we don’t see all the details).
Eventually, Alex and Violet end up in a car together, and Alex denies sending the recording to Isaac. In any case, Violet’s brakes are apparently not working and they crash into a tree. Alex is initially almost choked by a tree branch caught in her seat belt. However, Violet cuts the belt and frees her. It’s later believed that Violet should have died in the accident, but miraculously survived. This makes the players of Light as a Feather think Violet is still cursed.
Things take a deadlier turn when we learn that, at some point, Mack found the time to kill Sammi in ice (as she predicted), after Sammi had apparently been drugged by tea. It’s also heavily suggested that Mack has her personality split between herself and her deceased twin sister. This makes some sense, due to the season 1 finale. Still, it’s obvious that things will only get more complex for Mack and crew. The Chrysalis curse seems to keep mutating.
