What should fans expect from Big Sky ABC when it returns from winter hiatus?

Come tonight, it will officially be two weeks since we’ve had a new episode of Big Sky ABC. Currently, the hit ABC series is on winter hiatus for the holidays, but it will return with a new episode on January 26.

As of yet, we don’t know what the episode title is or the plot synopsis. I think ABC will start releasing some new information on the remaining 11 episodes of the season after New Year’s. However, there are some things we can already assume the next few episodes of the show will get into.

Big Sky ABC: We should find out Rick’s fate, in addition to Danielle, Grace and Jerrie’s.

More from ABC

The winter finale of Big Sky ended with a huge cliffhanger. Cassie finally managed to track down the kidnapped girls and came face-to-face with Rick in a deadly confrontation that ended with her pulling the trigger and shooting Rick in the head. It looks like he’s officially dead, although John Carroll Lynch was hesitant to confirm one way or another in his recent interview with TV Insider.

It sounds like Rick will die, but Lynch did confirm that Rick would appear in at least one more episode. Something similar happened with Cody (Ryan Philippe), who died at the end of the pilot but has shown up in some of Cassie’s flashbacks. I imagine we could see Rick in certain flashbacks, too.

Also, it looks like Danielle, Grace and Jerrie will finally be rescued. However, things could go awry if the traffickers show up and steal the girls yet again. That could put Cassie in danger, too, especially if she winds up kidnapped alongside them. On the other hand, the kidnapping storyline has gotten a bit old, so I can’t see the writers dragging it out for several more episodes. But, who knows? It would certainly add to the drama if we thought they would get free, and then a more ferocious big bad enters the picture.

Big Sky ABC: Expect to see Cassie and Jenny explore the Church of Glory and Transcendence next.

I don’t think we’ve seen the last of the Church of Glory and Transcendence. Rumors abound that the church is secretly a cult, and it certainly seemed like they were hiding something on Jenny’s brief trip there a few episodes back. I wouldn’t be surprised if the church became a significant plot point in the coming episodes.
