It's an incredible week for new TV shows to stream! This week, almost every streaming service added a big new show for you to watch right now, and the only one that didn't has the biggest show of the summer airing its season finale.
So, if you're in need of a new show or a new season of an existing show to watch this weekend (Friday, Aug. 7 to Sunday, Aug. 9), we have you covered. Let's get the list started with Prime Video's new teen series that's rising up the charts.
Sterling Point
Where to watch: Prime Video
Sterling Point is a new teen series on Prime Video. It just premiered on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and Prime Video dropped all eight episodes in the first season. The series tells the story of a teenager, Annie Jacobson, played by Ella Rubin, who inherits a small island in Canada. When she arrives, she finds a world she never expected.
Sterling Point is already a big hit for Prime Video. In just its first few days on the streaming service, Sterling Point is already the No. 1 show on the platform. I sense a season 2 renewal is right around the corner for Megan Park's new series!
Amélie Hoeferle, Jacob Whiteduck-Lavoie, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Bo Bragason, Keen Ruffalo, Mabel Strachan, Missi Pyle, and Jay Duplass star alongside Rubin in the first season. Check it out this weekend on Prime Video, or you'll be missing out!
The Shards
Where to watch: FX/Hulu
The Shards premiered on FX and Hulu on Wednesday, Aug. 5, and it's not quite as popular as Sterling Point, but it's definitely catching people's attention. The series was created by Ryan Murphy and Bret Easton Ellis, and it's based on Ellis' book of the same name.
The series tells the story of the young and wealthy students of a prestigious prep school in California in the early 1980s. When a serial killer starts targetting the students, a group works together to get to the bottom of this mystery.
If that's not a good enough selling point, check out this cast! It includes Igby Rigney, Kaia Gerber, Homer Gere, Hayes Warner, Graham Campbell, Evan Rachel Wood, and Wes Bentley.
Murphy's shows are not always my cup of tea, but The Shards seems like one of the best in a while! We'll see as the first season continues.
So far, only two episodes of The Shards have aired on FX and Hulu so far. New episodes drop weekly on Wednesdays.
Ted Lasso season 4
Where to watch: Apple TV
Ted Lasso is finally back on Apple TV after a three-year break between seasons. The fourth season just premiered on Apple TV, like Sterling Point and The Shards, on Wednesday, April 5.
In the season 4 premiere, Ted Lasso, played by Jason Sudeikis, is working at a grocery store in Kansas City, focused on living life and being a good dad. Rebecca (Hannah Waddingham), Higgins (Jeremy Swift), and Keeley (Juno Temple) show up and offer Ted a new job to coach the women's team. That's just where the season begins.
We're getting to meet a full new cast, aside from the regulars I just mentioned, and we're heading back to England for the rest of the season. New episodes of Ted Lasso season 4 will be released on Wednesdays on Apple TV.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3
Where to watch: Netflix
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 just hit Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 6, and it's already off to a great start. The series is the top show on the Netflix Top 10, ahead of the biggest hit of the month for Netflix, The Idaho Murders: College Nightmare.
My Life with the Walter Boys season 3 picks up after the events of season 2. The love triangle between Jackie, played by Nikki Rodriguez, and the Walter Boys, played by Ashby Gentry and Noah LaLonde. The stakes are bigger than ever, and this is the most dramatic season yet.
The good news is that My Life with the Walter Boys season 4 is already in the works at Netflix.
House of the Dragon season 3
Where to watch: HBO
Last but not least, I have to talk about House of the Dragon season 3. The finale will air on Sunday, Aug. 9, on HBO and HBO Max. I'll be live recapping the season finale, just like I've done every week of the season, and I wanted to make sure we get as many fans tuning in as possible because this is going to be the biggest episode of the season so far. And that's saying a lot because the season started with the biggest naval battle so far.
House of the Dragon season 3 has continued the Dance of the Dragons, the civil war in Westeros that is tearing the Seven Kingdoms apart. Heading into the finale, Rhaenyra's forces are advancing on Tumbleton, and it looks like we should be seeing another pivotal battle.
The bad news is that after this episode, we're probably going to have to wait until 2028 until House of the Dragon season 4 hits HBO.
