True Detective Season 2 has finally started production, but in the fury of news that was announced on Monday a premiere date was not among the information released.

Fans of the hit HBO series True Detective have been waiting months for any sort of information on the upcoming season of the show, and that wait was paid off on Monday. After keeping everyone mostly in the dark about the production of Season 2, HBO has announced and confirmed some major news about the show that everyone was waiting for.

Perhaps the biggest piece of information fans were waiting for was not among the list of news given on Monday afternoon. While the cast was confirmed, the episode order was announced and cameras were reported to be rolling, an announcement of a premiere date was conspicuously absent from the press release HBO sent out.

This, aside from everything we had confirmed on Monday, was the biggest piece of information fans wanted but didn’t get. It’s clear that the January 2015 release date will not be met which means the rumored summer 2015 release date is much more likely. It could be and even longer wait than that though, as a Fall 2015 premiere date for True Detective Season 2 isn’t out of the question.

Basically, anything is possible at this point as the absence of a solid — or even a tentative — premiere date for True Detective Season 2 will keep fans guessing in anticipation of when the new episodes will drop.
