True Detective Season 2: Why is Cast Info Pouring in?
The drought of True Detective information that we faced earlier this summer is officially over. Of course, with Nic Pizzolatto as the sole writer of the show there is bound to be a large gap of time in which nothing happens simply because it needs to be written. Now, however, we’re supposedly a month and some away from True Detective’s second season and we’ve had more than a handful of casting announcements in the past two weeks.
Whatever is going on behind the scenes at True Detective is likely to remain a mystery. This sudden outpouring if casting is suspect, and may indicate that there has been some production trouble. Whatever trouble there might have been is likely over, and the recent rush to fill roles may mean that the True Detective team is feverishly working towards wrapping it up.

There is likely pressure for True Detective to figure out just exactly is going on with season two’s production. HBO have yet to confirm January as a premiere date, but the feverish pace of filming and casting leads us to believe that there is, at the very least, a looming deadline.
HBO likely won’t give us more information until they’re 100% comfortable doing so, and it’s difficult to say how soon that will be. In reality True Detective’s second season may be several months from airing, and it would do well to prepare for that possibility.
