US Weekly Recognizes True Detective on Best of 2014 List
Even though 2014 is officially over, that doesn’t mean the best-of lists are going away. True Detective has already made a number of them, possibly making it one of the most popular choices for the best of 2014 so far. And now, US Weekly has decided to weigh in.
US Weekly has assembled their own list of the top ten TV shows of 2014, and True Detective managed to make the cut. True Detective comes in at number 3 on this ranked list, between Mad Men and Orange is the New Black. The list doesn’t separate comedy from drama, so it’s every show for itself.

Other popular shows such as The Americans, Veep, and The Good Wife also made the list. Interestingly enough, Hannibal is nowhere to be seen, a show that’s finally starting to get some serious recognition of its own.
Fargo and Game of Thrones both made honorable mentions, but not the actual list. Fargo and True Detective have continued their rivalry even in list form, with some outlets choosing one over the other.
Not only has True Detective been dominating the year-end lists, but True Detective spoofs are ending up on ranked lists as well. Funny or Die recently put together a list of the best clips of 2014, and their own True Detective spoof, Tiny Detectives, has a prime spot.
2014 was undoubtedly the year of True Detective, and with the SAG’s and Golden Globes coming up, 2015 should be alright as well.
