Reminder: The SAG Awards Take Place this Weekend

You read correctly, folks. The SAG awards, True Detective’s next shot at an awards will take place this weekend. Specifically, this Sunday on TNT and TBS.

True Detective isn’t nominated in as many categories as it was at the Golden Globes, but in light of Fargo’s domination at the Golden Globes, its chances at the SAG awards don’t actually look that bad anymore since they’re not directly competing.

We did a detailed analysis of True Detective’s chances at the SAG awards. Not being nominated in more categories may be a bummer, but worse case scenario it also means potentially less losses.

Right?

True Detective didn’t do so hot at the Golden Globes, and that’s put something of a damper on this award season.

However, not only are the SAG awards left, we also have the upcoming PGA and DGA awards and True Detective is nominated for both. Our original analysis of True Detective at the Golden Globes turned out to be way off base, but at least we were in good company.

Hopefully things will be a bit different at the SAG awards, but if we’ve learned anything it’s not to assume too much. Let’s say that we’re cautiously optimistic about True Detective’s chances on Sunday evening and leave it at that.
