Report: Vince Vaughn on TODAY

Vince Vaughn’s new film, Unfinished Business, was recently released so he’s been on the mandatory promotional tour. With some time to sit down with Vaughn it was inevitable that he would be asked some questions about True Detective‘s second season. Unfortunately, there’s not all that much to say on that front.

Vince Vaughn sat down with TODAY, and after some friendly chatter and touching on the new film, True Detective came up. What’s becoming clear at this point is that there’s not really much else to be learned, at least from Vince Vaughn.

"“It’s allowing me to sort of bring a different range and a different set of tools to the table…I thought that the first season was just incredible dialogue and story, and turns and kind of a rich subculture to kind of get into.”"

It’s not much to drool over, and it’s obvious that Vaughn has not yet been given the okay to start discussing True Detective in earnest. But these interviews aren’t about True Detective in the first place, so it’s not that surprising that we’d be learning very little.

Finally, Vaughn talked about his personal experience filming True Detective:

"“For me, it’s a chance to go and play a very unique character, something that’s dramatic, and be a part of something that I think is really exceptional.”"

While his excitement is indeed catching, it’s not exactly new information. True Detective  is currently filming, presumably even while Vaughn is off on this new press tour. Although there hasn’t been much going on, we have had a number of photo leaks from the set, including pics of Colin Farrell without his new mustache.
