True Detective’s Michelle Monaghan Heading to Hulu

The first season of True Detective was filled with fantastic performances. Even though Matthew McConaughey has gotten the majority of the attention, that doesn’t mean his fellow actors also didn’t perform admirably.

One of those actors, Michelle Monaghan, will be heading to Hulu for a new series according to Deadline. Monaghan will take the lead in The Way — Deadline points out the title could change — which will be about a family caught up in a “controversial movement.”

Michelle Monaghan will play Sarah Cleary, the head of said movement. It all sounds fairly dramatic, in a good way. Monaghan’s performance in True Detective was perhaps eclipsed by the misogynist controversy, but regardless of what was thought of her character it’s impossible to deny that she put in a star-worthy performance.

Monaghan was actually nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as Maggie Hart, wife of Woody Harrelson’s character. That was about as much attention as she got for the role. Between Matthew McConaughey monopolizing the attention and the aforementioned controversy, there was little time for Michelle Monaghan.

We’ll be keeping an eye on this project as it moves forward, and we urge you to do the same. It’s fair to early to judge whether or not the series will be any good, and we have no idea what sort of “controversial movement,” it could involve, but we’re cautiously optimistic.
