A fan on YouTube, llachlann, has re-created the True Detective season one opener in the world of Grand Theft Auto V. It’s an incredibly faithful reproduction, and is the best True Detective and Grand Theft Auto combination we’ve seen so far. What a weird sentence.
Check it out:
Not only are the characters present, but they even re-created the settings and various backgrounds. It’s an impressive effort that accurately captures the look and feel of the first season. Season one just refuses to die in the minds and hearts of fans, and that’s a compliment. If this proves only one thing, it’s that we need more True Detective representation in video games.
Why not True Detective in Fallout or The Elder Scrolls? Are those respective character creators not powerful enough to handle all that True Detective has to offer? Someone out there, head our call: bring us Rust Cohle fighting a Deathclaw.
