Vince Vaughn Will Star in Comedy from Seth Rogen. Will He Balance Comedy and Drama?

We haven’t heard all that much from Vince Vaughn since True Detective ended. That’s understandable, since its only been off the air for a few months. We do know that he’ll be starring in a WW II flick with Mel Gibson. That, however, doesn’t mean that he’s looking for a permanent switch to comedy. It looks like his comedic future is already coming into focus.

According to Deadline, Vince Vaughn will star in The Politician, which is being written by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. That’s the same duo behind This is the End and the upcoming The Night Before. Not all that much is known about The Politician except it’s a ways off and is decidedly not a drama.

There’s no reason why Vince Vaughn couldn’t continue to act in comedies while still branching out onto drama. Comedy is a broad genre, after all.  As Frank Semyon, Vince Vaughn was one of the more interesting characters on True Detective. He was also given one of the best pieces of dialogue the season had to offer.

It will be interesting to see if Vaughn continues to walk a balance in the projects he chooses. Owen Wilson voiced his support of Vaughn as a dramatic actor, though he also admitted that he hadn’t watched True Detective. As long as Vaughn is a little more choosy with his comedy picks, there’s no reason this can’t work out for fans of Vaughn’s comedic and dramatic work.

Like most things in life, though, it’s just another waiting game.
