Rachel McAdams talks about her reasons for joining Marvel in a new interview.

If there’s anything that the success of Jessica Jones and the new Captain America: Civil War trailer prove, it’s that superhero movies are forever. Just in case you didn’t know that. True Detective season two is long over, and it has been confirmed that Rachel McAdams will be joining the Benedict Cumberbatch starring Doctor Strange.

In a short interview with MTV News while out promoting Spotlight, Rachel McAdams discussed her reasons for signing up with Doctor Strange. For anyone out there hoping that McAdams was a secret comic book nerd, maybe alter your expectations a bit:

"“I mean, I just love the director…I met with Scott [Derrickson] and loved his vision, he was so passionate. And the opportunity to work with Benedict was kind of a no-brainer. And Marvel makes amazing films, so it was a complete package.”"

She then adds that Doctor Strange is “not going to be like any of the other films.” We’ll wait and see on that point. Marvel movies are usually on point, but they definitely all share a similar flavor. It’s a bit of a stretch to imagine that Doctor Strange would be drastically different. Rachel McAdams’ motives for joining the film are pretty much the same reasons that any actor joins a film for. More or less.

Still, it’s great to see her enthusiasm for the role. It’s unlikely that we’ll get the same amount of excitement from Matthew McConaughey when he inevitably throws in the towel.
