The “Battlestar Galactica” and “Major Crimes” actress will play the storage queen of The Great Lakes region in episode 5 of “Fargo” season 3.
In “The Narrow Escape Problem,” Sy briefly talked to Emmit about meeting with “the widow Goldfarb,” who’s looking to invest in Stussy Lots, Ltd. Apparently, she’s cash-rich and could potentially help them out of their predicament with Varga and his shady dealings.
Thanks to Entertainment Weekly, we have more information about who Sy was referring to. Ruby Goldfarb, “the so-called storage queen of The Great Lakes region,” will reportedly offer the Parking Lot King of Minnesota a way out of the mess he’s currently in professionally.
The character will be played by Mary McDonnell, best known for her roles in Battlestar Galactica and Major Crimes. The actress will join the cast in a recurring arc starting tonight in episode 5, entitled, “The House of Special Purpose,” when the aforementioned meeting will take place between Ruby and Sy.

“We all love the show, but when you get the scripts and see the specificity of [showrunner Noah Hawley’s] work, he has this way of being simultaneously real and practical and mysterious at the same time,” McDonnell told EW.

The relief is desperately needed by the businessmen, as Sy is seen having to deal with the consequences of his own actions in the preview for the new episode. Following his conversation with St. Cloud police officer Winnie Lopez, which came as a result of his damaging of two cars in the parking lot of a diner, Emmit’s right-hand man faces intense questioning by Varga and his henchmen over why he was talking to the authorities.
Meanwhile, Emmit continues to face intense turmoil in his personal life at the hands of his brother Ray and the fired parole officer’s girlfriend, Nikki Swango. In an attempt to bilk more money from him, the couple decides to send Emmit a blackmail letter regarding a fake sex tape that they filmed, only it lands in the hands of his wife, Stella.
Here’s the official synopsis for “The House of Special Purpose”:
"“Nikki and Ray’s retaliation has consequences for Emmit. Meanwhile, Gloria and Winnie start connecting the dots.”"
