The Offenders: Marvel sets 4 new animated series for a Hulu Universe
Marvel adds four new animated series to form a Hulu Universe titled The Offenders.
While the Netflix/Marvel Universe will most likely come to an end after Jessica Jones season 3, it seems like a new superhero team will be coming soon. Deadline reports Marvel has added four different animated series to Hulu with the intention of forming a crossover special called The Offenders.
The four different shows, Howard the Duck, Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show, Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, and Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K., have no release date yet but they’re expected to debut sometime in 2019 or 2020.
Comic book veteran, Kevin Smith, and Dave Willis will serve as the head writers for Howard the Duck and will serve as executive producers alongside Jeph Loeb. The story will follow the titular duck on his mission to return home with the help of his friend Beverly while trying to avoid the nefarious Dr. Bong.

Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show looks like it will be more comedic than the others with comedian Chelsea Handler and The Last Man on Earth producer, Erica Rivinoja, tasked with writing the series. Like Smith and Willis, these two women will also be executive producers on their series with Jeph Loeb. The show will center on two best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they try to gain more recognition in Los Angeles. Dazzler is one of the more popular X-Men characters, and it opens up the possibility of more mutant characters appearing on the series.
However, Marvel’s Hit-Monkey should also have plenty of humor with Marvel billing it as a “brutally funny revenge saga”. Josh Gordon and Will Speck join Loeb as executive producers and writers for the series revolving around a Japanese snow monkey who makes his way through the Underworld in Tokyo.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. will be a family affair with the titular villain struggle to balance his family life as well as his evil organization. Jordan Blum and esteemed comedian, Patton Oswalt, are set to serve as writers and executive producers. Like the other series, Jeph Loeb will also be on hand as an executive producer.
There is no word on which writers will be moving on to The Offenders special however, Loeb will serve as a producer. The titular characters from each show will be forced to save the world in this special despite being a ragtag group of heroes.
In a statement to Marvel’s website, Loeb expressed his excitement for the new universe.
"A giant head. A monkey. A tiger lady and a disco queen. And the duck. Brought together because no one else could but Marvel Television on Hulu. M.O.D.O.K., Hit Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler and Howard the Duck will form a team no one asked for — The Offenders (and wait until you see who the Team Leader is!)! We have such tremendous talent bringing amazing adult animation that’s fun, fresh and fantastic. We’re so excited for what’s to come!"
The other Marvel Universe on Netflix is expected to come to an end this summer. There has been no word if there will be another season of The Punisher however it hasn’t looked good. Jessica Jones is expected to return this summer but the departure of the creator, Melissa Rosenberg, has made it unlikely the series will be back for another season.
