True Detective’s comeback from the Golden Globes are already off to a rock start. The Producers Guild of America (PGA) announced the winners of the PGA awards last night at their own ceremony, and True Detective came away empty-handed.

True Detective was nominated for Outstanding Producer of Episodic Television, Drama. Breaking Bad took home the award as one last award hurrah, also beating out Game of Thrones, House of Cards, and Downton Abbey.

Fargo won in its category for Outstanding Producer in Long-Form Television, beating out American Horror Story, The Normal Heart, The Roosevelts, and Sherlock. Even though True Detective and Fargo were not directly competing, Fargo yet again takes home an award which True Detective loses.

True Detective, Fargo, and Breaking Bad are all expertly produced. Choosing a winner seems like a daunting task as they all deserve recognition. Perhaps next year, with Breaking Bad fully out of the running, will the PGA be able to fully recognize True Detective.

Tonight are the SAG awards, True Detective’s next best chance at an award this season. Hopefully it will pick up steam, but it’s beginning to look more and more like an unfortunate trend. Though it did just win a casting award for the pilot.

We’ll just have to wait and see.

If you won’t be tuning into the SAG awards tonight, we’ll be there to live-tweet the event. As of today, the SAG and DGA awards are left for True Detective. And as another reminder, Matthew McConaughey will be presenting at the SAG awards tonight.
