Will We See Lera Lynn Again in True Detective?
There’s only a single episode of True Detective season two left. Let that soak in for a moment. That means many things, but one of those things is that it will be the last shot to see Lera Lynn as the nameless bar performer. At one point, Lynn was a staple of season two, appearing in almost every episode. Now, however, we haven’t seen her in two.

A couple of weeks back, T. Bone Burnett talked about Lera Lynn’s role on the show. He didn’t go into the kind of detail that most True Detective fans want — what does she represent? — but he mention how important role on True Detective is, at least musically speaking. Season two has been moving so fast recently, that you’d be forgiven for forgetting that she was ever part of it in the first place.
The last episode of season two, “Omega Station,” looks to be bringing several plot points to an end. Assuming that Ray and Frank will have at least one more sit down at the bar, it’s likely that we will see Lera Lynn again. The last episode would also be a fine time to break out another original song, something that Lynn has been doing since her first appearance.
Most True Detective fans have professed to be fans of seeing Lynn on the show, and from that perspective it would be nice to Lera Lynn again before we close the book on season two. If True Detective gets a third season, something which HBO is anxious to bring to fruition, it’s unlikely that we’ll see a similar pairing of artists. Nic Pizzolatto, as a whole, it’s one for repeats outside of general writing style.
Whether we see her again or not, we’ll be sad to see and True Detective go their separate ways. Listen to Lynn’s “The Only Thing Worth Fighting For” below:
