Krysten Ritter will be stepping behind the camera for Jessica Jones season three.

The critically acclaimed actress is slated to make her directorial debut on her Marvel series this year. Jessica Jones made waves last year by hiring thirteen female directors for season two. It makes sense that the show would look at some its talent in front of the camera to see if they’d be interested in directing as well.

In an exclusive Deadline report, Ritter gave her statement about her excitement over the new venture.

More from Marvel

"“I am beyond thrilled to make my directorial debut on Marvel’s Jessica Jones. The entire crew and cast has become family to me, and I’m so appreciative of the opportunity to work with our incredible team in this new way. I am so grateful that Melissa Rosenberg, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, and Netflix entrusted me to take the reins.”"

Fans of Ritter won’t be surprised to see her try her hand at directing. The actress has already proven herself to be a force in both the acting and writing world. Her debut novel, Bonfire, was met with extremely positive critical reception. Directing seems like the natural next step for her in her career.

While there’s no word on what episode (or episodes) she’ll be directing, season three has begun filming. As production ramps up, more information about this upcoming season will be revealed to the public. Hopefully, Krysten Ritter knocks it out of the park in both of her roles for Jessica Jone this year.

Jessica Jones has not set any other director for season three yet. However, it wouldn’t be surprising if other members of the cast are given the same opportunity. Not only are they all extremely talented, but they also have experience behind the scenes. Carrie Anne-Moss has worked as a producer, while Rachael Taylor has been both a producer and a writer.
