True Detective Season Two: State of Play

This past March marked the one year anniversary of True Detective’s first season finale. The first season managed to garner much critical acclaim but was almost universally snubbed at the major award shows. It’s difficult to believe that at this point it’s been well over a year since True Detective premiered, and here we are without a second season.

Of course, it only speaks to True Detective’s strengths that we continue to wait somewhat patiently and the fans continue to respond with endless spoofs and tributes. The second season of True Detective will supposedly premiere this summer, though that has not been officially confirmed.

It was previously thought that it might show up last January, but that very obviously proved to be false.

We’re finally a few short months away from the second season of True Detective, but a lot is going to happen in that time. We’re going to see a major advertising push from HBO that is likely either equal to or greater than the one for True Detective’s first season.

Though with talent on board such as Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, and Rachel McAdams, the show practically advertises itself. Not to mention Kelly Reilly, whom we’re very excited to finally see make a major splash in the U.S.

We’re perhaps weeks or even days away from True Detective exploding, so even though it feels as if we’re in a holding period, it’s only the calm before the storm. And if you’re still having trouble coping with the relative quiet time, you can also check out the numerous photo leaks that we’ve seen from the set of True Detective.

The waiting is the hardest part, but we won’t be waiting for much longer.
