The weekend is here, and so it’s time for another edition of This Week in True Detective. And it’s a biggie. This week not only saw yet another tease from the True Detective camp, but also the release of a second trailer for True Detective’s second season.

Not only that, but a new cast member opened up about True Detective in an interview.

Exciting stuff. Let’s begin.

  • First off, True Detective actually won another award. Surprising, right? This time a prestigious BAFTA.
  • Rachel McAdams opened up about her role on True Detective, and how it’s the “role of a lifetime.” We didn’t learn much, but it’s nice to see an actor that excited about True Detective.
  • T. Bone Burnett, the man behind much of True Detective’s first season music, will be returning for the second season. Unfortunately there’s still no word on that True Detective season one soundtrack.
  • True Detective season one director Cary Fukunaga’s adaptation of the bestselling novel, The Alienist, will be coming to TNT. He’s been a very busy man.
  • Gus Van Sant’s Sea of Trees, starring Matthew McConaughey, was picked up by Roadshow Attractions at the Cannes film festival. It was also booed at its first press screening.
  • True Detective released new teases via Instagram just hours before dropping the second trailer for season two. It was quite a day. We also took the time to look back at the trailer for True Detective’s first season.
  • Finally, we looked into True Detective’s promotional push for season two.

And there you have it, all the best True Detective happenings of the past week. With True Detective season two premiering in a little over month, we’re bound to have more weeks just like this one. And we can’t wait. If you’re doing something True Detective released this weekend or just want to hang with us, feel free to reach out on Facebook or Twitter.
